4 Free Google Sheets Templates to improve your Productivity
100% free forever.
I have been using Gumroad.com to post free google sheets templates to help with building productive habits.
You can view all of them here on Gumroad: Mohammad Khan (gumroad.com)
All the templates are 100% free forever, including any updates I make based on feedback.
All templates have an Instructions sheet that tells you exactly how to use them. I tried to make it as user-friendly as possible. Any constructive feedback is appreciated.
If you would like to spend money (minimum of $1), the option is there.
You name a fair price.
Time Log Template
I used a time log for 4 years to track my time.
I tracked activities from sleep to breakfast to workouts to time spent in class to time spent at work to relaxation to hanging out with friends.
The goal for the time log is if I can see where my time goes, I’ll have an idea if I am as productive as I want to be. I’ll have an idea if I am prioritizing the activities I want in my life.
What gets measured, gets managed.
Decision Matrix for Careers & Projects:
Decisions are tough, especially career related ones.
I made a decision matrix that calculates the best career or project area for you to pursue based on a list of criteria.
You enter a list of criteria, rank them, then add biases to any criteria you prefer over others. The spreadsheet sums the numbers for you & spits out the highest one.
I used this decision matrix to gauge an area for my first job and which project areas I like to pursue both in my professional life and personal life.
Note: Any decision matrix should be used to complement your brain’s decisions. Never 100% rely on an output from a computer. Always use your best judgement.
Finances Template
Personal finance can get overwhelming which is why it’s an extremely popular topic on Medium and on Google.
This template gives you a breakdown of your finances into weekly, monthly, and yearly expenses & income. I use this template to get a bird’s eye view of my finances rather than a day-to-day log.
I find the bird’s eye view helpful with the daily tracker because it is easy for anyone to forget the compound effect of money.
Though a subscription may only cost $15 a month. That equals $180 a year which can be a significant portion of your money.
Or if you spend $2000 per month on rent + $100 a week on groceries, that also adds up in the long run if you don’t pay attention. Which equals, $2400 a month and $28,800 a year.
This template gives you that sky high perspective and allows you to manipulate the numbers yourself to see what changes you need to make.
FE Exam Study Tracker
We all study for exams at one point or another in our lives & many of us often forget to check, how much have we actually improved beyond what we feel like we’ve improved.
This spreadsheet template calculates the weighted average for the FE Exam for Mechanical Engineers and outputs your score. I gave it a weighted average to get a ‘worst-case’ scenario for the exam.
I am using this spreadsheet to study for the FE exam for Mechanical Engineers that I scheduled to take this September.
This template can easily be adapted to any similar exam such as the ACT, SAT, and others.
How does this help with productivity?
Goes back to what I said earlier with the time log. What gets measured, gets managed.
The spreadsheet gives me a percentage correct for each section. If I see I have low scores on certain sections, I focus my efforts there.
I also look at the high scoring sections and note why I got a high score in those sections and try to replicate that in my lower scoring sections.
It’s just as important to know why you succeeded compared to why you failed. Repeat what led to your success in areas where you don’t perform as well.
